At Roam Sailing, we've gathered a list of questions that fellow travelers, like yourself, often ask or want to know before booking or departing! If you have any additional questions not covered below, please visit our contact page, and a member the Roam Sailing team will respond to you promptly!

  • How much free time to we get?
At Roam Sailing, we’re known for making sure you can enjoy the tour on your own terms. That means you have the flexibility to take time for yourself whenever you like. While your Roam Sailing guide will have an exciting itinerary planned, you're free to do your own thing if that’s what you prefer! It’s your holiday, your way.
  • What kind of extra activities will there be?
Roam Sailing have an awesome list of optional extras for you! We have sourced amazing experiences, at amazing prices that range from zip lining and wine tastings, walking tours and beach massages. We will inform you ahead of time throughout the tour of the experiences for each upcoming day. You can elect to opt in or out, and pay as you go.
  • Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
All of our swim stops are in nice calm waters close to the island shores. The water along the Adriatic is famously known for it's high salt levels, which conveniently help you float! We also recommend our guests bring along a floaty or lilo to enjoy each swim stop that little bit more (you can pick one up in Split before we sail off). We also throw out a line for you to hold on to if preferred. At the end of the day, it is up to each individual guest to judge if they would like to go in the water at each particular swim stop.
  • We Are Travelling As A Group, Can We Join The Tour?
Absolutely, the more the merrier! Roam Sailing tours are for both groups and solo travellers. We are all about the family vibe on our tours, so you might come with a group, but we are sure you will make lifelong friends by the end of the week with our other guests!
  • Can I Do Laundry On The Boat?
Unfortunately, our boat is not equipped to offer on-board laundry services. Some guests rinse clothing and hang on the lines that run along the side of the decks (yes, there are pegs so they don't blow off!). Our Roam Guides know all the secret (and cost-friendly) laundromats on our stops though, and they will happily point them out for you.
  • I'm not a big drinker, is this tour for me?
Absolutely! Our tours are for everyone. While we encourage guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we’re not just a “party boat.” Our focus is on creating enriching experiences each day and night, rather than who has the biggest hangover. While our guides provide opportunities to explore the vibrant Croatian nightlife, participation is completely up to you and at your own comfort level. Enjoy the tour in a way that suits you best!
  • Are There Age Restrictions On Your Tours?
While our tours are tailored for young professionals in their 20s and 30s, we do not have an age restriction. At Roam Sailing, we focus on an experience that brings like-minded individuals together and we know you don't have to be a specific age to share the same mindset! If you're unsure, please reach out.
  • How many people will be on my tour?
Our tours max out at 30 guests per week. This ensures our guests have plenty of room to move and relax.
  • Where Do We Meet The Sail Rep & Other Travellers?
Don't worry, we've got everything covered! A few weeks out from your tour, your guide will be in contact with all pre-departure information including where to meet, how to get onboard and what to bring. You will also be added to a Facebook group for your specific tour, where you can connect with the other guests and will be updated daily.
  • What is the best way to pay for things while i'm on tour?
In Croatia, cash is king! We recommend bringing cash for any payments that may be needed during your tour. All optional activities, group dinners, port taxes, and bar tabs will be paid in cash. Don’t worry—there are plenty of ATMs along the way where you can easily withdraw money as needed! Everything in Croatia is paid in Euros.
  • Are Your Tour Guides Certified In First Aid?
Yes. All of our Roam Sailing guides are first aid certified.
  • Are food and drinks expensive in Croatia?
Many of the restaurants and bars we take our guests to are very affordable and the beverages on board are cheap and cheerful.
  • Can I bring my own food and drinks on-board?
At Roam Sailing, we’re all about the snacks—so feel free to load up on your favorite treats! However, drinks cannot be brought on board. Don’t worry, though! We have a fully stocked bar with everything you need, plus unlimited free drinking water to keep you refreshed throughout your adventure.
  • Do You Cater For Dietary Requirements?
We sure do, we love to look after everyone and do our best to cater to your own individual needs. Just let us know any dietary requirements while booking and we will take care of the rest.
  • Does the boat have a bar?
Our Premium A+ boat has a fully stocked bar for all of your needs, as well as a private bar tender. Let's be honest, relaxing on the sundeck is just that little bit better with a Pina Colada in hand.
  • Do we need to know how to sail the boat?
Our boats have professional crew that ensure a seamless sailing experience. All you need to worry about is which sun chair to lay in.
  • Do We Share A Toilet?
We know the fear of having one toilet between all guests, but rest-assured that each of our rooms is equipped with a private ensuite! There is an additional communal toilet on board, as well.
  • Do our cabins get cleaned?
All cabins will have a mid-week clean and towel change.
  • What is the difference between upper and lower deck cabins?
The main difference is in the light and accessibility. Upper deck cabins have standard sized windows, providing ample natural light and easy access to step outside into the sunshine and directly into the Adriatic for your refreshing morning swim. Lower deck cabins feature portholes, which let in less natural light, making them darker and potentially better for those who prefer a quieter, sleep-friendly environment.
  • Do I Need To pack A Towel?
At Roam Sailing, you get not just 1, but 2 towels for the week. Save that baggage space for shopping!
  • What is the difference between double & twin cabins
All rooms are twin share and come equipped with air conditioning and private ensuites. Our Double cabins feature one double bed, making them perfect for couples or friends who prefer to share a bed. In contrast, our Twin cabins have two separate twin beds, which are ideal for friends or solo travelers seeking their own space.
  • Are Cabins Air Conditioned?
Each cabin is individually air-conditioned, which is included for the entire week. Rest-assured, the air con works an absolute treat. If anything, some guests say it works too well when they wake up a bit frosty!
  • Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes! Our boats are equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi for the week.
  • What power sockets are in the cabins?
Our boats are equipped with European sockets (2-hole prongs). Be sure to bring an international conversion adapter to use your electronics during your trip!
  • Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all guests. You won't be able to check in without it, so please make sure your coverage is in place before your trip. It's for your peace of mind and to ensure you're fully protected during your adventure!
  • How far in advance should I make my booking?
We recommend making your booking as soon as possible. Spots fill quickly and are allocated on a first in, first served basis. We don't want you to miss out!
  • If I Have An Early Flight After The Tour, Can I Leave Early?
No problem! We will arrive into the Port of Split on the Friday afternoon while checkout isn't until Saturday morning after breakfast. We are happy to accommodate you in any way we can, and if it's easier for you to leave early that is no issue.
  • How Do I Know When I Have A Spot On A Tour?
When you send through your booking enquiry, our Roam Sailing team will be in touch with a confirmation and any required information. After your deposit has been received, you will be sent final confirmation and it's time to start getting excited!
  • What Currency Does Croatia Use?
Croatia's currency is Euro. Before this it was Kuna, however, they transitioned in recent years exclusively to Euro.
  • Is Croatia Safe?
Yes, Croatia is a safe country. In saying that, we advise all of our guests to take care and be travel smart. And of course, it's important to ensure you all look out for one another.
  • Is tipping mandatory in Croatia?
Tipping in Croatia isn’t obligatory, but it is a thoughtful gesture and fairly common. Generally, a tip of around 10% of the bill is appreciated. While it’s completely up to you whether to reward your Roam Sailing crew, know that any extra you provide is sincerely valued, especially since their summer earnings get them through the quieter winter months. The Roam Sailing team consistently strives to make your week unforgettable, and we take pride in delivering excellent service. You’ll have a chance to express your appreciation to the crew at the end of your week. As a guideline, we suggest: €15 per week for each crew member on board which totals about €75 €5 per day for your Roam Sailing guide (around €35 total for the week). Remember, the amount you choose to tip is entirely your own decision!
  • If my flight leaves early Saturday morning what time can I depart?
We arrive in the Port of Split on Friday afternoon, with checkout scheduled for Saturday morning after breakfast. If you need to leave earlier to catch a flight, we’re happy to accommodate and make sure your departure is smooth and hassle-free. Just let us know your plans!
  • When should I arrive into Croatia?
We recommend arriving the night before your tour begins. Split offers plenty of accommodation options, and arriving early ensures a smooth check-in, just in case there are any travel delays or disruptions. It's always better to have some extra time to settle in and relax!
  • What is the best airport to fly into?
Split airport is a quick 30-minute drive from the Port of Split, which is where your tour starts and finishes.
  • What time do we check in & check out ?
Check in is at 11:00 AM on Saturday, and check out is at 8:30 AM on the day of departure.
  • What is the best way to get to the port from the airport?
There are plenty of taxis available right outside the airport for a quick ride to the port. Additionally, several bus services run direct routes to and from the port, making it convenient to get there. If you prefer, you can also use Uber for your journey to and from the airport!
